New Media graphic design refers to the design and development of digital and print media.
The term "New Media" is derived from computerized, digitized media such as websites, digital video, CD-ROM applications, interactive displays, even cell phones and PDA's. New Media may also encompass databases, networking, telecommunications, and e-mail. The term is coined as "New" Media because the digital world is constantly evolving and new tools, and applications are being developed accordingly.
New Media blends seamlessly with "traditional" print design. New technologies such as variable data printing are pushing the envelope with what can be accomplished by mixing new media and print. Print has always been a powerful medium and can only become stronger as New Media design becomes more a part of today's business advertising.
Your marketing materials and website are a reflection of your company. If your message appears weak and unprofessional, people will perceive your business as being the same way. Don't let bad design tarnish your company image.
Professional graphic design can go a long way in marketing and advertising your business. Marketing materials that are well designed are more informative, easy to understand, and will attract more customers.
Here are few questions to consider when choosing a website designer.
- What is the main focus of the company? Many companies offer website design or claim to be "web designers". But are they really? Ask what the company's main source of income is. Do they focus on design or are they a "side" division of a larger entity? Being focused allows a company to have specialized know-how that can save thousands of dollars in design and development time.
- Do they have a web developer in-house? This is a very important aspect to consider. Does the web designer you are considering do the work in-house, or do they outsource to a third party? You don't want to work with a middleman. Prices become bloated, and the response time is much longer.
- Do they have a graphic artist in-house? Website design is very much an art as it is a technology. A dedicated graphic artist is important to insuring that graphics are of the highest quality. Does the company you are considering have a graphic artist in-house? The follow up question after this is...
- Does the company you are considering have a website? If seeking someone to develop your company website, the first rule is never hire a designer that does not have their own website. If they can't get a site up for themselves, how are they going to do it for you?
- What is the quality of their work for current clients? Always take the time to look at the work already completed by the designer you are considering. Are their designs professional? Do they specialize in one area? Does their clients website function properly? Do they look and appear professional? Do all the designs look the same?
1. You get to talk to the people actually doing the work. Ad agencies, IT companies, and printers have you talk to with their salespeople. It's rare that you will ever get to speak to the actual programmer or designer working on your project. With Pagoda Media, you are dealing with the people doing the work. Questions are answered faster, changes are made in less time, and everyone is kept on the same page.
2. Focused solely on web and graphic design. Pagoda Media is not a side division of an IT company. We are not a part of a commercial printer, newspaper, or traditional advertising agency. Pagoda Media is a team of freelance professionals devoted to the art of graphic design and the implementation of technology to move it into different mediums. The graphic solutions we provide will look better and appear more professional.
3. Designers and technical developers. The Pagoda Media team consists of top-level graphic artists and technical developers. Designing new media projects requires a team to understand current technology. Pagoda Media has been dubbed the "perfect blend of art and technology" being that we provide outstanding artwork with a design solution that works.
4. Vast range of past project experience. Our past projects range from print to web, from high-level corporate to small business and all levels in between. Our wide range of experience helps us plan projects, foresee potential pitfalls, and ensure a smooth project.
5. Youthful energetic group. We love what we do, and it shows in every project. This results in better experiences for our clientele. We want to see our clients succeed. We get excited when we see processes working and achieving (and surpassing) expected goals.
6. All design is original. We don't use pre-made designs or templates. Every design we create is original, no matter how large or small the client. You want your business to be unique and stand out, not squeezed into some cookie cutter version of someone else's design. Original design eliminates the chance of your company looking just like your competition.
7. Location is not an issue. Pagoda Media has the ability to work with clients no matter where their business is located. We have successfully completed projects for clients residing in Alabama, Texas, and even in Europe, using only phone and e-mail as the primary method of contact. This allows anyone, anywhere to benefit from our design services.

Having the same team design your print and web insures that everything will have a consistent look. It also eliminates the hassle of having buy printing, setup website hosting, e-mail, and other time consuming issues.
